Who Is John Nemec?

Simply put, JohnNemec.com is about the random thoughts and interests of John Nemec. The goal is to post articles about either My Boring Life, Strange Stuff, Technology, Web Development, Graybar or John Nemec’s personal Portfolio.

My Boring Life consists of short stories about the day-to-day happenings of John Nemec. All are completely factual and try to be as current as possible. Many of the names in the posts are intentionally left out or changed to protect the people involved. Occasionally a review can be found in this section, this is solely John Nemec’s opinion and the only true review is one you make for yourself.

Strange Stuff is about all of the strange things found online involving the paranormal, SciTech or just plain weird. Strange Stuff posting are limited too what is found in John Nemec’s weekly crawling that he deems interesting.

The Technology section is similar to the Strange Stuff section but it revolves around Technology that interests John Nemec.

Web Development consists of John Nemec’s work passion, web design and development. This may consist of articles or tutorials that John Nemec finds interesting, or actual tutorials or articles on information John Nemec has discovered himself. John Nemec is human and thus flawed, so he could be wrong about things, or technology could change faster than him. But this doesn’t excuse anything, if you find an error, throw it in John Nemec’s face, laugh, and correct him.

John Nemec is the Internet Marketing Manager at Graybar, and being that Graybar will normally take at least 50 hours a week from his life, John Nemec finds that sometimes things need to be written about Graybar. None of the thoughts and opinions written in this section or on this site in general reflect the thoughts and/or opinions of Graybar Electric Inc.

The Portfolio section is by far the most neglected section on JohnNemec.com. At one point in John Nemec’s life he worked heavily on freelance web design and development, but now with freelance not John Nemec’s primary focus, there may not be a lot of updates. But this section exists for anyone who is interested in browsing through older sites that John Nemec originally built.

Biographies:

John Nemec is a Web Developer, Marketing Manager, Photographer, Musician, Father and Husband.

After obtaining a BS in Photography from CMSU, John began his design career working for CPI as a Digital Imager and Product Developer. John’s days consisted of creating new products for Sears Portrait Studios and PictureMe (Wal-Mart Portrait Studios), and managing the large format section of the Digital Imaging Department.

John’s interests eventually started to lean towards web development and database design, so he went back to school and obtained his Oracle DBA Certification. Around this time he also changed careers and started working for Network Solutions as a Web Developer. At Network Solutions John created many custom websites for various businesses across the world. Here he also learned a great deal of SEO techniques and the foundations of his PHP knowledge.

John eventually changed careers again, this time he went to Graybar Electric as an Internet Marketing Manager. At Graybar John found himself running and maintaining the public side of Graybar.com, which included all SEO, site updates, developing custom microsites, and spearheaded the drive to do a complete site redesign.

When John joined Graybar, JohnNemec.com was more of a portfolio for John’s Web Design and Photography work but John wanted to obtain more writing experience so site transformed into a Blog. The big question was, what to blog about, and the quick answer is, blog about what you know. So John converted JohnNemec.com into a Web Design and Development blog. After time other sections entered the site after the My Boring Life section gain popularity. Now rather than just a Web Development blog, it’s become a blog about anything and everything that interests John Nemec.
