Top 5 Ways To Build Links
Links = Page Rank
Building links is one of the most important things a SEO can do, because Links = Page Rank, but not many SEOs know exactly where to begin building their links.
Under the assumption that you have good and relevant content, links should come naturally. But first you have to let people know you exist. I use this top 5 list whenever I begin building my links.
Social Media Sites
It’s relatively easy to create accounts on MySpace, Facebook and Twitter, but is that enough? NO! You should also submit articles to EzineArticles, GoArticles and iSnare to name a few. Other Social Media Sites that should not be forgotten are Digg, del.icio.us, Reddit and PopURLS. Getting a link in one of these gives more than enough exposure alone, but if you get on the first page, prepare to upgrade your hosting package.
DMOZ
DMOZ is a selective human-edited web directory. In other words, humans put all links in DMOZ, not some bot. Submit your site, wait a few weeks, and if your lucky you’ll find a nice place in their directory.

Yahoo! Answers and Google Groups
People are always asking questions, and the internet is a great place to ask and find. Why not search Yahoo! Answers or Google Groups for questions you can answer. When you find one, go write a nice blog entry about the question. Go back to the question page and tell the asker “How timely, I’ve just written a blog post about this exact thing!” give them a short keyword rich answer and leave your address. You can even get around that nasty no-follow thing if people follow it themselves and link to you on their own.
Comment on Blogs
Get your name out there. I’m not suggesting you go spam every blog you can find, eventually your name will be as bad as your page rank, but if you have something to say, then say it. Most blogs have a place to put your URL, put it there. Again, if there is a no-follow attached this is not a problem. Your hope is to get people to read your site and find it interesting, then hopefully they will link to you.
Write a Top 5 List
There is nothing better than writing a Top 5 list about something. The hope and goal of these short lists is to trick the reader in to thinking you are an expert in what you’re talking about (wink wink). The comments will flow like water, and the links will come flooding in from trackbacks.
If you’ve got any better ideas, or different ways to build links, let us know! I’m sure everyone would love to hear them.
