No Link Juice for TinyURL
I‘ve been wondering this for a long time, if all the TinyURLs I’ve been posting all over the interwebs have actually been giving me link juice. I kept meaning to do some tests, but I never actually got around to it. But that doesn’t matter anyway because someone beat me to it, TinyURL Does Not Pass Value.
According to Shark SEO’s article, they created a test site with a unique word linking to another page on another domain. Then, on the same page, they created another unique word linking to a different page on a different domain, but this time it had a TinyURL. After a months time the TinyURL did not rank, but the regular link did!

This does inspire me to actually go through with my own experiment, and if I do I’ll post my results for everyone to see.

Howdy John, thanks for the mention. It’ll be interesting to see whether you get the same results as me – I’ve not tested it on other URL shorteners like Zi.ma or the like so might be worth having a look at some of those if you’re planning on retesting?
That’s a good idea! I’ll look around and find a few different URL shorteners and test them all. I’ll make sure to head over to Shark SEO to post my results there as well.
