Save Your iPhone Battery Life

by John Nemec on September 14th, 2009

Do you ever find yourself halfway through the day with a dieing iPhone because you’ve played too much World War or listen to too much music? I have and I don’t always have my charger on me. So what can you do?

iphone-sensorsOne way to prolong your iPhone battery life would be to trick one of the sensors, the ones located near the ear piece. There is an ambient-light sensor that brightens the display when you’re in sunlight and dims it in darker places.

By covering up the sensor as you unlock the iPhone, you will trick it into believing that you are in a dark room and the iPhone will dim the screen-brightness. This is assuming that you have turned on Auto-Brightness.

Another way to accomplish this is to just turn your brightness down. I would advise this to anyone that has a hard time remembering to cover the sensor. Just go to Settings, select Brightness, and use the slider to lower your brightness. While your in there, if it’s not already, turn on Auto-Brightness.
