How to Set Up a Gravatar
In the past weeks I’ve been asked a few times how to set up an Avatar image for the comments section on many blogs. I’ve decided rather than keep explaining this via email I can send people a link and save myself some time.
This is probably one of the easiest things you can do online. I’m going to make this into 5 easy steps.
- Go to Gravatar.com and enter your email address and signup for an account by clicking the ‘Signup’ button.
- Gravatar will send you an email with a link, go ahead and click it. WOW! You now have an account and have been sent to your password page. Let Gravatar know what you passwords is and click ‘Set Password’
- It will ask you the standard marketing questions, either get the newsletter or don’t, its your call.
- Now you can add your image, and other email addresses if you would like. You just need to follow the directions of where the image is located and how you would like to crop it.
- Finally you have to give yourself a rating. Either G, PG, R, or X. Gravatar gives a brief explanation on what the ratings mean. I advise finding an image that is G rated so your picture isn’t excluded from any websites.
Now you have your very own Gravatar, and will pop up automatically on any Gravatar enabled site, like JohnNemec.com.
After you have completed the steps, post a comment and take a look at your flashy new Gravatar!
