B. Davis & Company

So for the past few months I’ve been swamped with work. The main project I’ve been working on was B. Davis & Company, a e-commerce website created in Drupal using Ubercart. B. Davis & Company is a store that sells fine items including table settings and light fixtures.

Going into this project I had never built an e-commerce site before, and I really didn’t know where to begin. And yes, I let my client know. I’d had a little experience with osCommerce and PrestaShop, but mainly in a turn it on and poke around kind of way. Nothing that ever took online payments.

So after doing a little research, and looking over the needs of my client, I determined that Drupal with Ubercart was the best way to go. It had all the functionality that she needed either right out of the box or with a few modules. So I sat down with her (very convenient that we live in the same town) over a cup of Starbucks Coffee to discuss what I had learned and what she wanted the site to look like. And that’s when it dawned on me, where will it live.

Sure, I could go out and get another hosting package, but what will I do if I get another gig? So I decided to become a Reseller Web Hosting Provider. Sounds hard? Not really, I just got a package from Steadfast Networks and away I went.

And we did. We built a beautiful site that does exactly what she wanted, and I found myself running a small Web Development business, Moosefish Web Services.

Long story short, I learned a lot and had a good time doing it. I lucked out and got a very patient and kind client who was a pleasure to work with, and I plan on doing it again. Like a tattoo, you become addicted and need to keep building sites for anyone and everyone that wants one.
