The Smores Wedding

by John Nemec on April 12th, 2010

The Smores finally did it. They got married. Not that it was a spur-of-the-moment thing, but they did it none-the-less. And it was a beautiful ceremony on a perfect day with some great people. All in all, it was a great wedding, and I HATE weddings, but I had a good time.

Smores Say I DoOn Saturday, April 4th, 2010, the Smores finally said “I do” to a life of eternal nagging, housework and arguing about where to eat. I wish them the best. It was a fine outdoor ceremony with an indoor reception. I don’t know whom Mrs. Smore paid off for the weather, but all week the Weather Man said it was going to rain all day; I don’t recall seeing one drop. The sky was bright blue with large puffy clouds and the temperature and wind was perfect. You couldn’t ask for anything more.

OK, so I could ask for more, and I got it; an open bar. A near requirement at any good wedding, the open bar is what usually gets me through the evening. Normally I find myself sitting at a table with 8 complete strangers listening to my wife chitchat with someone she just met. All I normally have is my drink.

What brings a wedding to the next level is good conversation at the table. Luckily, we picked a table with some good people; Mrs. Smores’ boss and wife and another couple along with my wife, kiddo and buddy, The Drummer. Somehow this mishmash of people got along phenomenally. We never ran out of anything to say, and with the open bar, could have gone late into the night.

The Smores WeddingNow a wedding is not all about the free booze and good people, it’s about the bride. She was beautiful. Normally I don’t see my friends like that, but I believe it’s acceptable on occasions like this. Mr. Smore looked pretty sharp himself, not everyone can pull off the Pee-Wee Herman look, but he did and did it well.

I wont bore you with the details of the wedding; they are all pretty much the same. I will tell you that the ceremony was short and sweet, just the way I like it. As soon as it was over the guests were able to turn around and hit the bar and hors d’oeuvres while the wedding party went for pictures. From there all the normal things happened, dancing, cake cutting, dinner and not in that order.

Needless to say, the wedding was a huge success and on behalf of JohnNemec.com we wish The Smores the best of luck and a long and wonderful life together. You make My Boring Life just a little less boring. Congratulations!
